the 5 zone methodologyTM

Our “5 Zone Methodology” for data center cleaning ensures your critical environment is cleaned to the highest industry standards. Exclusively developed and used by DP Guardian, the 5 Zone Methodology targets the five most important areas within a critical space, which can be anything from a data center to a computer room to a laboratory. This comprehensive cleaning approach was developed to mitigate risk, ensure safety and provide the highest quality cleaning for our customers.

The 5 Zones Include:

DP Guardian clean room

subfloor

When servers depend on subfloor air delivery for cooling, it’s imperative that the subfloor be free of airborne particulate as well as unwanted debris and metal shavings. For nearly 30 years, DPG has been cleaning critical data center subfloors safely and efficiently while effectively managing risk of costly unplanned outages. During subfloor cleaning we sometimes discover risky conditions such as rust or corrosion, structural issues, leaks, and poor connections as well as inspect for perilous zinc whisker contamination.

drop ceiling

Just because dust resides out of sight above your drop ceiling doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Moving ceiling panels during common tasks can release a cloud of dust raining down on sensitive computer equipment. When a clean ceiling is used as the return air path, filters last longer and keep supply air cleaner for your gear.  As buildings age, we are frequently discovering harmful zinc whisker filaments growing on ceiling hangers, t-grid stringers, and above-ceiling conduit. DP Guardian has the knowledge, understanding and experience to safely clean above the most challenging drop ceilings while also containing contaminants in order to protect your sensitive equipment below.

surrounding environment

Data center floors often have static-dissipative properties built right in to the floor’s construction.  However, when the floor is dirty its ability to dissipate ESD is compromised and less efficient. Whether your site’s floor is raised floor laminate, static-dissipative vinyl or even carpet or concrete,  DPG’s trained and experienced field staff will follow industry best practices for cleaning and maintaining your floor while effectively managing risks common to less-experienced cleaners.

equipment

Over time, harmful dust will settle on the contents of data rooms (racks, cabinets, servers, support equipment, furniture, and fixtures).  When dust becomes airborne it can be inhaled by server fans and ingested onto sensitive internal circuit boards, causing short circuits and thermal insulation resulting in outages.  DPG takes great pride in delivering best practice cleaning techniques by experienced technicians to restore an operationally safe baseline for surface cleanliness within your computing environment.

A computer floor must be clean to efficiently provide a path to ground.  DP Guardian can safely maintain high cleanliness standards on your flooring, whether static-dissipative vinyl or high-pressure laminate access flooring

What’s the best way to avoid the cost and hassle of a data center disaster? The answer is simple: Invest in cleaning and maintaining your data center on a regular basis. Airborne particulate, soil, debris, and electro-static discharge can adversely affect your data center operations. Clean, well-maintained data centers have a much lower risk of equipment failure and downtime because dangerous dust and particulate are not allowed to accumulate. DP Guardian will work with your team to devise the ideal cleaning schedule as a preventive measure. Please call us or request a quote to inquire about multi-site and multi-year discounts.

Has Construction Occurred In or Near Your Data Center?

Construction dust is particularly harmful to electronic equipment due to its abrasive and often corrosive properties. Whether it’s a new or newly remodeled data center — or even if construction occurred two blocks away — dust can clog filters and damage equipment. Getting your technical space cleaned right the first time minimizes impact on commissioning schedules and budgets, and can reduce operations expenses in many types of critical facilities. With experience since 1992, your data center will be cleaned right the first time - or we will come back until you are completely satisfied.
