Airflow as a System

dpg-airflow-sheild-pngIn 2002, DPG started solving data center airflow distribution challenges by sealing cable cutouts, developing and installing containment solutions, CRAC/CRAH EC fan retrofits, and other “site specific” solutions. 

Our “service first” approach was developed to integrate airflow distribution as a part of the complete data center ecosystem.

Here are a few additional methods to help airflow distribution issues:  

dpg-airflow-sheild-png 1. Raised Floor – DP Guardian will work with the user to find the appropriate load rating and laminate finish for your HPL tile needs.  We are able to source and install new raised floors, or assist with replacement panels for your existing floor.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  2. Subfloor/Drop Ceiling Partitions – Thoughtfully creating pressure zones or isolating unused areas underneath the raised floor or above the drop ceiling can lead to significant cooling gains.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  3. High Flow/Perforated Panels – Precise delivery of air to each computer cabinet is most efficiently accomplished by using various perforated panels.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  4. Cable Cutout Remediation – Typical data centers waste between 40-60% of subfloor cooling capacity, resulting in hot spots and system inefficiencies.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  5. Blanking Panels – Designed to effectively seal openings in IT equipment cabinets and control airflow for optimized cooling effectiveness.  Blanking panels reduce hotspots and bypass airflow by preventing equipment exhaust air or hot aisle air from migrating to the conditioned air intake stream at the front of the cabinet.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  6. Aisle Containment Design/Install – Keep cold air in and hot air out (managing even the smallest gaps goes a long way).  Aisle containment also prevents recirculation in the event of a cooling outage, providing additional “ride through” until cooling is restored.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  7. CRAC/CRAH Ducting Systems – Ducting the CRAC/CRAH units to the drop ceiling can sometimes be a way to reduce air mixing and set the stage for additional savings opportunities.  There are always challenges with the approach, however, so let us help design a system that will work for you.


dpg-airflow-sheild-png  8. Leak Detection – Leak detection solutions are engineered to provide unparalleled protection against any form of conductive fluid that might threaten your facility.  Our product line includes fluid sensing cable and spot detectors as well as the monitoring devices and accessories to support them.
